Tay...Tah...Tap...Taaape...Taper, thats it. The thing I never do! It's time to crank out one more long run with a decent pace before Grandma's Marathon in a few days. With this trust the science crap and them shutting down the world, It's been like a year and a half with no racing or at least real in person marathons to run. So, no pressure but it is go time. I've built an insane mileage base and trying to find some speed on these final days. My last long run was kind of aN interval training run with a 7:15/mile pace for 21 miles. Felt pretty good afterwards but obviously need to hold that pace with 26.2 straight miles. On Sunday, I'll attack another run and see how it goes.
Grandma's is always the best weekend of the year or at least top 3 for me. Love being back in Duluth where this whole running debacle started. Minus the year of covid, I've ran Grandma's every year since 2009 and don't plan on ending the tradition anytime soon! While I'm training in some serious heat, hoping it isn't one of those freak 90 degree humid days along Lake Superior. Regardless of the outcome, which should be a new PR, that chocolate milk at the end is going to taste amazing. After the PR, the second goal is to not puke in the finishers area but you know what? That just means I left it all out on the course.
See you soon D-Town!
